It happens all too frequently, if I'm not thinking ahead. find myself way too far away from
real food, my stash of goodies at home, nothing in the pockets. I'm starting to feel it, that drop in energy, the fuzzy headedness, weak. Ugh, it's my blood sugar
dropping. The dreaded catabolic state, technically.
Catabolic is the opposite of anabolic (nothing to do with references to steroids). It's the body gradually beginning to waste away. Your body is starving for nutrients and first turns to muscle tissue as a first resort. Yikes! So at this point all the normal rules get tossed, just eat something, anything to fill the void.
If you're smart you'll always leave your base camp nest, home or crib with some sort of protein or veggies or fruit
in your gym bag, purse, male clutch or fanny pack.
I've even dipped as low as hitting the vending machines when it's crucial. It's just a rare thing, not a preference, just an emergency. Who would ever willingly compromise hard-earned muscle growth?
