All foods can be classified as either
yin or yang or somewhere in between. Imagine a long continuum line:
the most yin foods at far left, neutral foods in the middle, very
yang foods on the farthest right.
The healthy body needs things in balance,
especially the vital ones. Bodybuilders and muscle seeks need to
be aware that both yin and yang foods can help each other, and imbalance
can be the cause of being a hard-muscle gainer or hard-fat-looser.
• 'Warming' YANG foods
increase qi, (pronounced 'chee').
It means energy.
• 'Cooling' YIN foods diminish it.
• Excessive use of either one is not
good.
• Balance of both including neutral foods is good.
But not altogether bad. The whole precept of Yin/Yang is total BALANCE of
everything we do, ingest and experience. Therefore, what we output will be
balanced also.
Because the taste centers of the tongue
sense sweet, bitter, sour, pungent and salt, having a very clean
palette, unpolluted or distorted by chemicals can be very helpful
'on-board' information to have.
