OLD MEDICINE IS THE NEW TRUTH

Spices and herbs are much more than mere flavor enhancers. They often have important, zero side-effect medicinal properties, too.

Predominantly, herbs and spices contain significant amounts of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. The highest quality herbs and spices are often more expensive than the generic brands. Not every part of the plant delivers the purported medical properties, although it may taste somewhat the same; i.e., root versus leaf versus blossoms versus stem.

Include the essential oil versions of herbs and spices in your health regimen.

Herbs and Spices are a Valuable Treatment Resource

OREGANO provides Vitamin K - a rare nutrient to most people's awareness, pure high quality oregano has 6 mcgs (micrograms) of K and is loaded with antioxidants. There is valid evidence that oregano essential oil can actually effectively thwart stomach flu.

CINNAMON. In its purest form, bark stripped responsibly from the plant and usually found in SE Asia, cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar levels, reduces fasting blood glucose levels and crucial for non-drug management of insulin resistance. Research has shown that consuming half a teaspoon a day can actually reduce the risk for diabetes and heart disease within only 6 weeks.

ROSEMARY. Marinating meat in a mixture containing rosemary has the potential to reduce the formation of free radicals by as much as 84%.Rosemary's aromatic qualities are an undeniable delight to the olfactory senses.

NUTMEG has powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties; it can control the growth of tumors and reduce the risk of certain cancers.

CURRY powder is a blend which always contains the stalwart herb turmeric. Turmeric is a wonder spice — it's hugely anti-inflammatory. In fact, its powerful anti-inflammatory agent — curcumin — is 50 times more potent than vitamin C. With a history of inhibiting the growth of certain breast cancer cells, curry is a staple in Indian cuisine.

CUMIN provides 22% of your RDA of iron. A tablespoon of cumin seeds provides 22% of your RDA! It's also excellent in refried beans or when making homemade taco seasoning. Ground seeds have greater potency than the whole form.

CAYENNE PEPPER (capsaicin) elevates the body's metabolism enabling a higher rate of calories burning. Capasicin is hot to the tongue but very soothing to the gut! Pop a capsule of cayenne pepper instead of an antacid tablet!

NOTE: ONLY BUY NON-IRRADIATED HERBS AND SP ICES.
If the label does not offer this information, it's sure to be irradiated
(= cytotoxic, genotoxic, carcinogenic).

"Despite the irresponsible promotion of this process as safe, food irradiation destroys much of the vitamin content of food, produces a number of toxic byproducts: formaldehyde, benzene, and formic acid, as well as unique radiolytic products, e.g. 2-alklycyclobutanoes, that have been demonstrated to be *cytotoxic (damages cells), genotoxic (damages DNA), and carcinogenic (causes cancer) in test tube and animal studies." -Green Med Info
